To Stay.
South Congress Hotel: I stayed here! The hotel is super chic and modern, but the lighting in the room is sub par. if you’re going for an important event in which you need good lighting to get ready at night— I advise you to bring your own “light”… whether it’s a ring light or one that goes onto the mirror. #trust
Hotel San Jose: Built in 1936 as an “ultramodern” motor court, the property has been transformed into a 40 room urban bungalow-style hotel tucked behind stucco walls and set amidst lush garden courtyards. The Hotel San José is located on South Congress Avenue, a few blocks from downtown and Lady Bird Johnson Lake in the heart of one of Austin’s favorite neighborhoods. Check out the rooms before you book— I was into the vibe of the hotel, but the rooms weren’t for me! People love this hotel though :)
Four Seasons Hotel: Downtown Texas inspired hotel situated overlooking idyllic Lady Bird Lake. A saltwater pool, lawn games, miles of lakeside trails and spacious rooms.
To Eat.
Uchi: Austin must!!!! Incredible sushi plus creative hot & cold dishes from chef Tyson Cole in a stylish, sophisticated setting.
Launderette: Loved the food here!!!! Gourmet New American fare served in a polished cafe space in a converted gas station/Laundromat.
Perla’s: Located on South Congress, Perla's offers fresh fish and oysters flown in daily from both coasts paired with coastal cocktails and an extensive wine list.
June’s All Day: Laid back sophisticated neighborhood cafe & wine bar inspired by Spanish tapas bars, Parisian cafes, and hipster NYC wine bars. Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Elizabeth Street Cafe: A neighborhood Vietnamese cafe and French bakery in South Austin with sunny dining rooms and a shady garden patio.
Jeffrey’s: Posh fine-dining icon featuring upscale New American cuisine in a tony setting plus an active bar.
Josephine House: Offering lunch, afternoon snacks, evening drinks, and special events in Austin's historic Clarksville neighborhood. Jeffrey’s spin off restaurant.
Eberly: Vast setting for chic American dining & lounging areas, plus a study, rooftop bar & Cedar Tavern.
Uchiko: Offshoot of the famed Uchi restaurant with upscale sushi & small plates in a farmhouse-chic space. The casual version of “uchi”.
Odd Duck: Upscale farm-to-table eatery doling out locally sourced New American chow & drinks in a contemporary setting.
Red Ash: Craft Italian fare, from wood-fired specialties to housemade pasta, plus wine in rustic-modern digs.
Lambert’s: A must for Austin BBQ! Fancy BBQ & other meaty fare in a refurbished general store with an upstairs bar with live music
Franklin BBQ: Long lines form early for brisket, pulled pork & other smoked meats at this lunch-only spot
